On Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 11 am – 5 pm, Carbondale will be marching and uniting! This year, the reason for the march is twofold: 1) to commemorate the 2017 Women’s March and 2) this year we have the specific goal of uniting the community to strengthen the voice of all who identify as women, our allies, and marginalized people to embolden a more equitable society. We are living in divisive times – this year, we will demonstrate that our strength comes from community and kindness, not division.
The full schedule will be updated as information becomes available. We will have a community engagement fair where you can meet and mingle with ALL of the best community organizations – use this as a time to get involved! We will honor some of our communities best and brightest up-and-coming leaders, and then we’ll show the community that we are still here with a march. Finally, we’ll unwind with a gathering and concert at Hangar 9.
Organizations interested in a table at the fair who have not yet been contacted with a “Save the Date” should email siwomenunitednetwork@gmail.com or send us a Facebook message. (Facebook event at: https://www.facebook.com/events/374875763070479/.)
Women United Network is a state and local based, non-party affiliated Political Action Committee. Given that 51% of the United States population is female, WUN strives to reach equity in representation. Therefore, the purpose of WUN is to use its network to strengthen the voice of all who identify as women, our allies, and marginalized people in the political process. This will be done through financial support, awareness, and action to embolden a more equitable society. Women United Network is not affiliated with Women’s March, Inc. and is administered completely by members of the Southern Illinois community.
