In late May, the Champaign County Board is scheduled to decide whether or not to sell the Champaign County Nursing Home.  If you’re interested in this issue, check out a new online summary  from the Champaign County Health Care Consumers (CCHCC). 

The summary provides a list of several County Board meetings on the issue prior to the final decision and a link to a recent Op-Ed in the Sunday News-Gazette that outlines improvements in the nursing home. 

The summary also urges citizens to attend an informational meeting sponsored by the Friends of Champaign County Nursing Home on Saturday, May 12, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the Urbana Free Library in the basement in the Lewis Auditorium.  The meeting will cover: 

• the changing financial picture of the CCNH
• promising opportunities for the CCNH
• quality of care improvements at CCNH under the new management firm SAK
• pitfalls of for-profit ownership of nursing homes (especially investor-owned for-profit companies).
