Good morning. Here is what’s happening this week:
Monday, May 28, The Poor People’s Campaign, “40 Days of Moral Action” continues. At 2 pm there will be a rally and march in Springfield. This week, the theme is linking militarism and the proliferation of gun violence. It will also cover issues that concern veterans. They are encouraging veterans to be there.
A local group of carpoolers who will be leaving tomorrow at noon. If you are interested in joining in, please FB message me.
Tuesday, May 29 will be the next Progressive Drop In. This drop in will be at Stango in Lincoln Square at noon. Stango features Zambian and other African food. The best part is that a portion of their proceeds goes to a hospital in Zambia.
Saturday, June 2 is Wear Orange Day. This is a day dedicated to promoting gun reforms, and standing against gun violence. Come to West Side Park from 4pm to 6pm to hear from individuals impacted by gun violence. And proudly wear orange in support. Moms Demand Action still needs volunteers to help out. The above link is to a volunteer form.
FYI: On Friday, June 1, you can help turn Alma orange in support. Wear your orange, and come to the Alma Mater for a group picture at 1230 pm.
Have a good Memorial Day weekend.
