Juneteenth Emancipation Day Celebration

JOIN US IN CELEBRATING 153 years since the news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Texas and freed the last of the slaves.  Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration commemorating the abolition of slavery in the United States, is one event you don’t want to miss. The event is presented by the Champaign Public Library and Champaign Park District on Saturday, June 16, 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Douglass Park.

Enjoy music and visit different vendors while learning about this important holiday. Children can make arts and crafts, play on the bounce house and obstacle course, or get soaked in the Splash Pad.  Bring your family and friends to Douglass Park for summer fun and games!

Performances:
12:10-12:25 – Emancipation Proclamation read by Mr. Lincoln / Black National Anthem by local artist Lizzie Carter
12:45-1:15 – D3 Cover Band
1:30-2:00 – South Shore Drill Team
