From CU Indivisible Facebook page: Good Morning! There are so many things happening this week, it was difficult to choose featured items. But here are some events happening in *The Week Ahead*:
Tomorrow, Monday 9/3/18 9:30 am, Join the Champaign County Democrats to march in the Urbana Labor Day Parade. Meet in the south parking lot of Lincoln Square. If you have candidate t-shirts, please feel free to wear them. https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/… (See our post here for more information.)
Thursday, 9/6/18 6 pm, Betsy Dirksen Londrigan will be doing a TOWN HALL on Education at the Natural History Building on campus in Urbana. (Room 2079) Let’s show her opponent that Champaign county knows how to fill a town hall. It is a big room. Fill it up. https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/… (Or see our post here for more information.)
Friday through Sunday, 9/7/18- 9/9/18, There will be candidates’ collaborative canvassing in Savoy. If you can spare some time at all that weekend, canvassers are really needed. There is a link to a shifts sign up included in the event text. This is for all the candidates, especially down ballot, that have potential constituents in Savoy. Check in will be at the Plumber and Pipefitters Hall on Dunlap. https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/… (Or see our post here.)
Saturday, 9/8/18 11 am, There will be a rally, “Champaign Urbana East Central Illinois Rises for Climate, Jobs and Justice” This is a national event, with rallies all across the country. Join the CU rally in Scott Park. https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/… (Or see our post here.)
Saturday, 9/8/18 1 pm, There will be a “Where’s Rodney” rally at his office parking lot. “It has been over a year since Rep. Davis held ‘office hours’ in Champaign. He has continued to hold paid town halls with wealthy donors and corporate interests while refusing to meet with his own constituents. And if anyone calls him out on this he accuses them of ‘vitriolic rhetoric’ “. https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/… (Or see our post here.)
BTW, you can participate in both rallies on Saturday, since one is 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, and the other is 1:00 – 2:00 pm. AND you can also participate in canvassing in Savoy.
As I mentioned prior, there are many more events going on this week, and many more chances to canvass and phone bank. For information on events, please check out the WEFT Progressive Calendar at: new.weft.org/progressive
