Racist Uncle Joe Workshop

Going home for the holidays? Need some support in dealing with that *special* family member?   Engaging with friends, relatives, or even coworkers about challenging topics can be highly stressful, but also an important part of staying true to yourself and your beliefs. This is especially true when someone is saying things that are insensitive, rude, or hurtful on matters such as race and gender.
This interactive exercise – called “Talking with [Racist] Uncle Joe” – is designed to help us prepare to respond in a group setting, through creativity, strategy and compassion.  The workshop will allow you to engage with him with more confidence and calm, because you’ll have strategies up your sleeve, in addition to greater understanding.
This workshop is offered by the Education Justice Project on Friday, November 2, 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm in the EJP Community Space, Room 121, 1001 S Wright St, Champaign. (map). The workshop is open to all. Please RSVP here: https://doodle.com/poll/un4iv8n8u5mue3bz
