Annual County-wide Dr. MLK, Jr Celebration

On Friday, January 18, 2019, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, this annual county-wide celebration commemorates Dr. King’s legacy by bringing together community members from Champaign County to celebrate the mission, teachings, and legacy of Dr. King. This year’s keynote speaker, Pastor Michael Pfleger has sought to break down the walls of racism and denominationalism by building unity among all people. He will respond to the theme of “Keeping the Dream Alive Through Personal Responsibility”. The program will also include a presentation of awards for the James R. Burgess, Jr. Award, Susan Freiburg Humanitarian Award, and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Outstanding Achievement Award. Hors-d’Oeuvres served at 4:00 pm. Program begins at 5:00 pm.
