Rodney Davis in Tolono August 3 – Invitation to Demonstrate

From the CUP Facebook group, here’s notice of a planned demonstration at a Rodney Davis appearance coming up on Friday, August 3.

“For those of you who do not yet know, Rodney Davis is planning to have “open office hours” This Friday, August 3, from 12 noon to 2 pm at the Tolono Police Station. There is banter about showing up to demonstrate, since Tolono is close, and being in a small town, it will catch him off-guard. He will not expect protesters to be in Tolono.

It would be great if we had a decent sized group. But, we need to be strategic about the signs. If there are signs with 4 letter epithets and/or personal attacks on RD, the people of Tolono may just write us off as left wing ——ers. (Fill in the blank.) But if we have signs that deal specifically with the issues, especially something personal to you, that may have some impact, or maybe a sign that says, “Davis is overdue to have a townhall,” maybe the good people of Tolono will see that we are just normal concerned people.

Now I am NOT suggesting that we will change the minds of people in trump country, we won’t. But if we have obnoxious signs, they will just empathize with RD.

As far as I know, there is no agenda. There is no group that is planning something formal. We will just be there with signs, to demonstrate how unhappy we are with our Congressman’s behavior.”
